Humanity has been trapped in a rapidly growing cycle of production and consumption since the industrial revolution. However, considering current consumption habits and the increasing global population, it is believed that our planet will be limited in meeting these demands. In recent years, studies focusing on environmental issues have been increasingly embraced by society. The problem of ecological deficit, resulting from the ecological footprint exceeding the biological capacity, has heightened interest in this field. This research is based on a sample of 367 high school students attending an Anatolian High School in İzmir. The aim of the study is to determine the students' level of awareness regarding their ecological footprint. In this context, the study focuses on identifying which sub-areas of ecological footprint awareness are most prominent among students. Humanity is struggling by using nature's resources, but this struggle has increasingly led to the destruction of nature and a rise in environmental problems. Consequently, environmental issues that threaten the existence of all living beings have emerged. Therefore, the concept of sustainability and ecological consciousness has become increasingly important. By focusing on high school students' awareness of their ecological footprint, this research aims to evaluate the potential of future generations to use natural resources sustainably and reduce environmental problems.
